The cycle and experience of life is similar to a sailboat being sent to sea. With a minor catch it has a hole in the hull. As we’re constructed and put to water, strict structuring of the world around us keeps us from making wakes and choosing paths differing from other boats. In the end we must all leave the dock and the harbor. Leaving the harbor we have paths that must be taken to get to the open sea and the beginning of our journey. All must come into the world and educate ourselves in sailing to graduate the harbor to the open sea.
Though not a single sailboat is alike, they must all eventually reach the open sea; a land of decision and opportunity that each sailboat must choose a path to begin their journey. Maybe you will go north and follow sailboats, south and meet up with other boats or dare to go west and discover something anew. Plotting this course either coconsciously or subconsciously is a decision all make. Even the indecision to choose will lead you further toward something as the wind in your sail will continue to move you forward.
Each sail is different unique from one to another. Some sails are built to move faster or slower, some boats are larger and smaller to cruise easily through life without wakes, while others are left creating wakes even if it is not a choice.
During the journey your course may change. It may take a turn from the group or toward a group, but you will certainly see storms, rough water and hazards of the sea. This is unavoidable. Some may have storms out of the harbor while others take many nautical miles to find a storm or rough water.
Experiencing the different places and groups many may forget about the leak. You cannot find the leak, it just is. As our sailboat fills with more of the ocean you may take notice of this leak and choose your journey more wisely.
Many sailboats weighted down move less swift through the sea or can’t change course as easily. All ships succumb to the same inevitable fate, the leak from the hole in the hull. Each sailboats hole in the hull is as individual as the sails they fly. Some boats may take the ocean sea sooner than others creating more caution or shorter journeys, but every journey will end.
Plot your course; choose your journey. For the inevitable leak is a reminder to enjoy the wind in your sails, the company you keep and the trials you face.
